Johns on Boothby (1934)

Frederick Johns, a South Australian historian, was a fan of William Robinson Boothby and an advocate of South Australia's place in the story of the Australian Ballot. Here's the WRB entry on p36-7 of Johns's 1934 (posthumously published) Australian Bibliographical Dictionary. Johns credits Boothby with the ballot clauses of the 1856 Act, but Boothby was not in fact appointed returning officer until November that year.
